New Year's Eve is celebrated every year on the last day of the year, 31 December. Together with the following New Year's Day, it forms New Year's Eve. In the Netherlands, it is traditional to celebrate New Year's Eve with family and friends. This is often done in the comfort of one's own home, where delicious snacks and/or donuts are eaten after the evening meal. At twelve o'clock sharp, people drink champagne and wish each other a happy and healthy new year. Then they often go outside to set off fireworks. Very cosy moments!
